장민승 전시《상산》이 열리는 세 번째 장소는 제주 대동호텔에 위치한 비아아트(viaart)입니다. 전시 로케이션 장소이자 영화 〈오버데어〉(2018)의 베이스캠프였던 이곳은 1970년에 대동여관으로 시작되어 2001년에 리모델링 후 대동호텔로 이어지고 있습니다. 
호텔 대동은 1970년대 제주관광개발로 시작된 호텔 중 유일하게 50년이 넘는 지금까지 운영되고 있습니다. 오랜 시간 국내외 한라산을 등반하기 위해 제주를 방문한 산악인들의 사랑방이기도 했습니다. 2012년 7월에 개관한 비아아트는 대동호텔 1층에 위치한 갤러리로, 제주 원도심이라는 특수한 위치에서 실험적인 문화예술 활동을 꾸준히 펼쳐가고 있습니다. 제주의 살아 숨 쉬는 헤리티지, 대동호텔과 장민승 작가와의 협업은 2017년 시작되어 2024년 《상산》에서도 이어집니다. 이번 프로젝트에서 장민승은 자연 풍경을 중심으로 작업한 작업을 강원도에서 제주까지 순차적으로 공개합니다.

The third location of over there will take place at Hotel Daedong in Jeju. This exhibition venue, also serves as the base camp for the film Over There, boasts a storied history dating back to the 1970s. Originally known as Daedong Inn (대동여관), it was remodeled into Hotel Daedong in 2001 and has been continuously operating for over 50 years, as part of Jeju Tourism Development Project. Over the years, it has evolved into a key gathering spot for mountaineers tackling Hallasan, drawing both local and international visitors.
Situated on the first floor of the hotel, viaart is a gallery that has been at the forefront of experimental cultural and artistic practices within this unique locale in Old Town of Jeju Island. The ongoing relation between Jeju’s vibrant heritage, Hotel Daedong, and jang min seung which began in 2017 continues with the 2024 exhibition over there.
