Jang Minseung
Artist, film maker
1979 Born in Seoul. Lives and works in Seoul, Korea
Jang Minseung majored in sculpture in university, and has worked as a furniture designer, a photographer and a music producer for more than 20 commercial films. With the experience of working with diverse media, Jang entered contemporary art by combining snippets of reality confronted by people and arranging it in a self-restraint and symbolic manner. His major works include Voiceless (2014), a video installation mourning the victims of the Sewol Ferry Disaster, the first film, Ipseok Bugeun (2016), homonymous with the 1962 novella by Hwang Sok-Yong – a leading author in Korean literature, over there (2018), featuring the Halla Mountain in Jeju-island for over 1,000 days of the production period, and the latest film Round and Around (2020), a tribute to the 40th anniversary of the Gwangju Democratic Uprising.

장민승(b.1979)
서울 출생하고 김포에서 작업 중
중앙대학교 예술대학 조소학과 학사, 석사
대학에서 조각을 전공한 장민승은 가구 제작자이자 사진가로, 20여 편의 상업영화 음악 프로듀서와 공연 연출자로 다양한 직업을 전전했다. 그 경험을 기반으로 경계 없는 협업을 통해 감각과 경험의 확장을 현대미술로서 실험하고 있다. 대표작으로는 세월호 희생자를 애도하는 영상설치 <보이스리스(2014)> 황석영 작가의 등단작 ‘입석부근’을 근간으로 설악산 토왕성 폭포의 빙벽을 배경으로 제작한 영화 <입석부근(2015)>, 천일의 제작 기간 동안 제주 한라산을 담은 영화 <오버데어(2018)>가 있으며 근작으로는 2020년 광주민주화항쟁 40주년 헌정작 <둥글고 둥글게>를 연출했다.
